PCHS announces consolidation of clinic services with Dr. Colglazier and Julie Kuskie, APRN

Perkins County Health Services in Grant has announced that Clifford R. Colglazier, MD and Julie Kuskie, APRN will join the medical staff at Grant Medical Clinic, according to CEO Neil Hilton.

An announcement by the Colglazier Medical Clinic back in late May regarding the intention of the private practice closing as of June 30 did happen with the retirement of Ruth Demmel, MD, Hilton said. However, Dr. Colglazier and Julie Kuskie will continue practicing with PCHS.

The new direct relationship between PCHS and Dr. Colglazier and Kuskie was effective July 1, with Dr. Colglazier seeing a few patients over the past couple of weeks, Hilton said.

“Dr. Colglazier and Julie Kuskie are longstanding members of the local medical community, highly regarded in so many ways throughout the area,” Hilton said. “On behalf of Perkins County Health Services, we clearly recognize the grateful opportunity to welcome them into our excellent roster of providers within Grant Medical Clinic.”

Longtime Colglazier Clinic RN, Ronda McCoy has also joined the GMC staff in continuing direct nursing support for the two practitioners as she’s done for many years, Hilton said.

Beginning this week, Dr. Colglazier will see scheduled patients on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays with Kuskie keeping a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday clinic schedule. Each will have options for schedule flexibility over time, Hilton said.

The two practitioners join a staff of seven medical professionals currently serving the clinic in Grant.  Hilton also said, “We continue to be so pleased with the presence of our family practice clinic in Ogallala, with five excellent providers serving up there.”

Well Wishes

“As has been well documented in the Tribune-Sentinel, and widely known throughout the community, Dr. Demmel had practiced alongside Dr Colglazier for over 40-years, and we are so very thankful for her service,” Hilton said.

Dr. J. Matthew Byrd, PCHS Chief of Staff, also wishes Dr. Demmel well, and is pleased to welcome Dr. Colglazier and Julie Kuskie.

“Cliff Colglazier and Ruth Demmel have been such solid and dedicated providers of care here for so many folks, over so many years. We wish Dr. Demmel all the best in a well-deserved retirement, and I am personally pleased to have Dr. Colglazier and Julie join us in practice at GMC,” he said. “We will be in a position to support each other as a team in providing excellent care together.”

Current PCHS Board Member, and the doctors’ longtime friend John Long, said,“Dr. Demmel and Dr. Colglazier, have given decades of steady commitment and dedication to patient care, which is unsurpassed in so many ways,” Long said, “Their legacy will live here forever.”
