Wallin receives FSA honor

Perkins County Farm Service Agency Key Program Technician/Lead Program Technician Rita Wallin recently received the highest award that a Farm Service Agency employee can receive, the National Administrator’s Award. Wallin received the award for her service to the producers in Perkins County as well as her assistance to employees in the state of Nebraska.

Wallin received the Non-Supervisor of the Year Award that recognizes an individual who holds a non-supervisory position and demonstrates and contributes to the improvement of the quality and service of FSA.

According to Kim Borer, County Executive Director for Keith Arthur County, Wallin goes above and beyond to serve the producers of Perkins County as well as being a Key Program Technician for the entire state by helping out others as an expert in her program areas.

During the time frame of the award, Wallin also served as the Acting County Executive Director with the retirement of the Perkins County Director in April of 2021. Early in 2022, Perkins County became a shared management office with Keith County. Borer said that on the days she is in the Ogallala office, Wallin is the Acting Director for Perkins County.

“I never have concerns about her leadership abilities,” Borer said. “She keeps me updated on pertinent information for the office as well as communicating with me on the bigger issues.”

Borer said that producers in Perkins County are comfortable with Wallin, and are confident in her knowledge of the information being put out.

“She provides accurate and friendly customer service as well as going the extra mile to find the answers if she is unsure,” Borer said. “I appreciate all her hard work and I’m proud of her for receiving this national award.”

Wallin said she was thankful and excited to receive the award, stating that she loves her job and the people she gets to work with everyday.
