Scarlet Chapeau and Westview news
Ten Red Hat ladies enjoyed a wonderful meal in North Platte on July 17. After lunch, coffee and a lively chat they traveled to the antique village, hidden in the canyons south of North Platte with beautiful hills surrounding it.
The owners have relocated 15 historic wooden grain bins, fitted them with doorways and a metal roof , and filled each one with antiques, from early farming days to a school desk and teeter-totter, handmade quilts to embroidered pillow cases, child’s high chair to a potty chair, old dishes, depression glass and decorative iron pieces.
The village provides something of interest for all types of antique hunters. There is a boardwalk that ties all the bins together to give the feel of an old western town.
Hostesses for the July meeting were: Jean Cochran, Linda Hutt and DeAnn Zwickl. The next meeting will be in Ausust in Ogallala.
On Monday, July 14, Westview residents enjoyed an evening out on the town in Ogallala. They had a great meal followed by great music and entertainment by talented high school and college students.
