Summer vacation will end for students in Perkins County on Friday, Aug. 15 rather than Aug. 13, as originaly planned.
Because construction is underway on a new addition at the high school in Grant, the facility has been without power for several weeks—causing a snowball effect for attendance at the other two facilities.
There will be a 1:30 p.m. dismissal on Aug. 15. Doors will open Monday, Aug. 18 for students K-12 on the regular class schedule.
Due to electrical power being temporarily shut off, administration and staff have been housed in the Madrid middle school facility for a couple of weeks while busily preparing for the new school year.
Regular hours will vary slightly after that:
• K-5 starts 8:05 a.m. with dismissal at 3:30 p.m.
• Grades 6-8 begin at 8:05 a.m. and dismiss at 3:15 p.m.
• High school classes start at 8 a.m. and dismiss at 3:32 p.m.
K-5 grades dismiss at 2:30 p.m.; grades 6-8 dismiss at 2:15 p.m.; 9-12 dismiss at 2:31 p.m.
(Must be paid in advance)
• Breakfast will be served to grades PreK-8 at a price of $1.60.
• Lunch prices are:
Grades PreK-5 $2.35, grades 6-12 $2.85, adults $3.60.
Extra milk is 35 cents and a second entree helping is $1. There is no charge for seconds on fruits and vegetables.
Fans can obtain passes for the activities offered at Perkins County Schools.
Adults $50, senior citizens $25, students K-12 $25.
A family pass can be purchased for $130 which includes two adults and unlimited K-12 students living in the same home.
