Are you ready for some football?
The Grant Tribune-Sentinel is preparing for the upcoming college and professional football season with an exciting new contest.
‘Football Showdown’ 2014 will feature games each week in the paper from area sponsors. Contestants simply pick who they think will win, fill in the name in the corresponding blank on the registration form and return it to the Tribune-Sentinel by 4 p.m. every Friday during the contest.
The contest will run Aug. 28 through Nov. 28.
Every week one winner will be chosen out of all entries based on the number of wins. In case of a tie, all winning entries will be put into the grand prize drawing.
Each week the winner will be put into the final drawing for an autographed Tom Osborne leather football.
Sponsoring businesses can also play for a separate prize, also an autographed Tom Osborne football.
The drawing for the grand prize will be held Monday, Dec. 1 and published in the Thursday, Dec. 4 edition of the Tribune-Sentinel.
Entries can be mailed to PO Box 67, Grant, NE 69140; dropped off at the Tribune-Sentinel office at 327 Central Ave., faxed to (308) 352-4101 or e-mailed to
“We are hoping that this new format will be an exciting change of pace and build some friendly competition between the businesses and participants,” said Brooke Pankonin, sales manager for the Tribune-Sentinel. “Tom Osborne is a coaching legend in this state and an autographed football is sure to be the centerpiece of anyone’s collection.”
