|Squirrel causes blackout Sunday|

There was a glitch in getting ready for church Sunday morning for Grant residents who were without power for nearly one-and-a-half hours.
A blackout from 7:30 a.m. until almost 9 a.m. was due to a squirrel that got into the substation on the hill in the southeast part of town.
According to Midwest Electric employee Jerod Burge, the squirrel’s presence took out two fuses that protect the transformer, causing the city-wide outage.
Four Midwest employees responded in bringing the power back, giving the transformer a thorough check while in the substation, said Burge.
Just a little over six years ago a raccoon fried himself in the middle of the night, causing a similar incident.
