By Shari Friedel Tribune Staff Three members of the Perkins County golf team, Jeannie Kuskie, Janet Kuskie and Steph Reichert, participated in the Lexington Invitational on Friday, Sept. 11. One member, Emily Kolbasa, was unable to attend due to illness. Coach Troy Kemling was pleased with the consistent play of the girls, as well as improvements they have shown. “The girls played well today, continuing to demonstrate improvement each week,” he said. “I was particularly encouraged by the consistent scores the ladies had, all three scored within one stroke of each round.” Senior Jeannie Kuskie finished in the top 15, at 10th with a score of 91 (45-46), in spite of not having a good long game. She relied on her chipping and putting to put her on the scoreboard. Janet Kuskie finished just out of medals with a score of 95, missing the 15th spot with one stroke. She posted both nine holes in the 40s for the first time this year. Eliminating some big numbers in her round, Stephanie Reichert set a personal best by 14 strokes. “Stephanie played exceptionally well today,” said Kemling. “Her game is coming along nicely and her confidence is growing with each meet.” Lexington Invite Team Scores 1. The year’s meet had a different format, participants were put into two divisions, large school and small school. This enabled the girls to complete against other schools of similar size.
