An early morning fire Monday, Sept 14 destroyed the home of Steve Thompson in Elsie.
According to Elsie’s Assistant Fire Chief Brent Robertson, by the time Elsie Volunteer Fire Department personnel arrived, the modular where Thompson lived at 202 Perkins Avenue was fully engulfed.
Elsie firefighters made a quick attack, said Robertson, with mutual aid on the way.
Another 32 personnel and 15 pieces of equipment from the neighboring departments of Grant, Madrid and Wallace arrived to assist in the attack.
The fire’s cause is under investigation, said Robertson. The home is still standing, but fire gutted the interior, he said.
Thompson was home at the time the fire broke out, calling the Perkins County Sheriff Dispatch Office at 12:25 a.m.
Robertson said there were no injuries to either the home’s occupant or the firefighters who responded.
Elsie personnel remained on the scene until approximately 4:30 a.m.
