Dear Editor:
In honor of National Direct Support Professionals Week, I want to thank the dedicated staff who work directly with people with disabilities every day.
They are hands on, helping people with medications, bathing and mobility, preparing meals, and getting people to school, work and recreational activities.
Their commitment makes it possible for people with disabilities to live meaningful, productive lives, whether at the Beatrice State Developmental Center or in community programs all across Nebraska.
Sponsored by Senator Ben Nelson, the resolution creating this recognition week recognizes the tremendous difference this workforce makes in the lives of Americans with disabilities.
There aren’t enough words to describe my gratitude and respect for Nebraska’s direct support professionals. Thanks you for all you do.
