On a trade mission to Nebraska,  Chinese milling executives, grain dealers and government officials joined Perkins County wheat growers at the Brent Robertson farm last week.
Hosted by the Nebraska Wheat Board, the trade mission gave the participants a chance to meet with others involved in the wheat industry.
They learned about the U.S. wheat marketing system from farm to export, including growing, harvesting, transporting and handling.
While in Nebraska, the China representatives toured the Brent Robertson farm northeast of Elsie on Sept. 17, where a catered meal provided an opportunity to interact with area wheat farmers and their wives.
The trade team also toured the panhandle research station in Scottsbluff, the Cullan seed farm and Farmers Coop in Hemingford, ConAgra Mills and Western Heritage Museum in Omaha, and met with wheat producers and Union Pacific representatives before departing to Portland.
The trade mission was arranged by U.S. Wheat Associates. A Nebraska Wheat Board member and an officer for Nebraska Wheat served as guides for the team.
