Area Director Shara Sevart announced the promotion of Steve Vaught as the new manager of the North Platte Social Security office.
“I am very pleased to have Steve as the manager in North Platte,” Sevart said. “Steve is well-known for his leadership and strong commitment and dedication to public service, which will serve him well in his new position.”
Vaught received a business degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He joined the St. Louis, Mo. (downtown) Social Security field office in June of 2004 as a claims representative–taking applications for supplemental security income benefits.
In June 2008, he was promoted to Operations Supervisor at the St. Louis, MO (Central West End) Social Security field office. In addition to his supervisor duties, Vaught did work with representative payee organizations at his former position.
The North Platte field office serves 25 counties and has the largest service area in the Kansas City Region, covering approximately 1/3 of the entire state of Nebraska. Counties they service include: Arthur, Blaine, Brown, Chase, Cherry, Custer, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Grant, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Keya Paha, Lincoln, Logan, Loup, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, Rock, and Thomas counties.
Nearly 27,000 Social Security beneficiaries and over 1,700 Supplemental Security Income recipients are served by the North Platte office.
