Community support sought for new Eagle Scout project
By Jan Rahn
With weather soon to become a factor, Boy Scout Max Jones was able to get the major components of his new Eagle Scout project completed over the weekend.
Jones chose to create a landscaped area at Golden Ours Convalescent Home with a water feature and low maintenance plants.
Jones’ project comes with an estimated price tag of $5,500.
A 50-foot by 15-foot dry creek bed with a water bubbler at the south end, a bermed area along the dining hall windows, and perennial plants with a drip irrigation system will provide a scenic view for residents.
Three local service organizations and two individuals have donated funds toward the new project, but Jones is still seeking donors to fulfill his obligation.
Eagle Scout projects require that funds be solicited without the scouts hosting fund raising events themselves.
According to Jones, no keno funds are available from the City of Grant at this time, and he will be contacting local service groups for financial assistance. Individuals are also invited to support this worthwhile community project.
To contribute toward Jones’ Eagle Scout project, contact him at 308-352-4510, or by mail to P.O. Box 371, Grant NE 69140. An account is also set up at Pinnacle Bank for Eagle Scout project donations.
