An overwhelming success is how Perkins County School teachers describe the coat drive sponsored by the junior high student council. Students are now ready to pass along the collected items.

The first annual coat drive at the school began Nov. 16—and by Monday, Nov. 30, there were nearly 100 coats piled up to be passed along to children in need of a warm coat this winter. The generosity of patrons in the community also included hats, gloves and scarves galore.

Adults may pick out a coat or other items for their child on two occasions next week.

Monday, Dec. 7, 4 p.m. Coats and other warm winter gear may be selected from the items available at the elementary school in Grant.

Tuesday, Dec. 8, 4 p.m: Coats and warm apparel will be at the middle school in Madrid so parents/students can choose items for winter.

Anyone who cannot attend during the two-day period when the coats are available may contact Principal Terry Prante at 352-4313 (elementary) or 326-4201 to reserve one for their child.
