University of Nebraska at Kearney’s newest social fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, or FIJI, recently received national recognition from the organization's headquarters for achievements in the 2008-2009 academic year.
The group earned the Zerman Trophy, which is awarded to only 12 chapters annually. The award recognizes success in promoting members’ leadership in extracurricular activities.
The UNK Nu Kappa chapter was just chartered in April. Phi Gamma Delta was founded in 1848 at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Penn. The fraternity consists of 125 chapters and more than 118,000 members.
Among the members of Phi Gamma Delta during the award-winning period was Philip Lempke of Wallace.
