Signup for the SURE Program (Supplement Revenue Assistance Payments) for 2008 crop losses will begin Jan. 4, 2010. This is for only 2008 crop losses. The announcement for 2009 crop loss signup has not been announced yet.
Program regulations are included in 7 CFR 760.600. The final rule was published on Dec. 28, 2009. SURE is available to eligible producers on:
1. farms in counties with Secretarial disaster declarations, including contiguous counties that have incurred crop production losses and/or crop quality losses during the crop year.
2. any farm in which, for the crop year, the actual production on the farm because of disaster-related conditions is 50 percent or less than the normal production of the farm.
Reminder: To be eligible for SURE (Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program), all crops of economic significance must be insured by Federal Crop Insurance or by NAP.
2010 NON-INSURABLE CROP DISASTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (NAP):
Mar. 15, 2010 is the closing date for grass, mixed forage, sorghum forage, alfalfa, spring seeded annual crops such as barley, oats, and vegetables.
Please call 308-352-4747 extension 2 to schedule your appointment to sign up for the DCP, DCP/ACRE programs and to report your wheat plantings.
Also for livestock producers, please report losses as they occur within your operation. Good recordkeeping will be of utmost importance for the different programs that you may be eligible for. Stop by the office for additional information and applications.
