|Free tree risk assessment workshop offered|
Every community forest has tree defects and hazards that can lead to tree failure, according to Rachel Allison, community forester.
Allison will be conducting a free tree risk assessment workshop Wednesday, Jan. 20 in North Platte for public works employees, managers, tree board members, arborists and others responsible for community tree planting and management.
The half-day workshop will be held at the Public Service Building, 1402 N. Jeffers St.
The schedule includes an indoor session from 12:30-2 p.m. CST, “How to Detect and Assess Defects” and “Management Opportunities and Prevention of Tree Defects.”
Following is outdoor instruction from 2-3:30 p.m. including hands-on demonstration and discussion of evaluating and assessing tree risk.
There is no registration fee for the class. Registration deadline is Jan. 18.
