|NPCC holds technical skills contest for area students|
More than 100 high school students from 11 area high schools participated in a technical skills contest Monday at North Platte Community College’s North Campus.
The event highlighted the technical programs that are available at NPCC and gave the students an opportunity to spend time with instructors at the college.
The students competed in “hands-on” testing in five technical areas, including auto mechanics, building construction, cabinet making, drafting, and welding. Each student was allowed to compete in only one area.
Following a morning of testing, the students were judged on their technical skills. The results for area students are:
Auto Mechanics—Max Isenbart, Wallace, second place.
Building Construction (Teams)—Shawn Christensen, Jordan Christner, Kurt Trusty, Wallace, third place.
