Guilty verdict handed down in felony theft at area church PDF Print E-mail

Janet G. Huff, 35, entered a no contest plea in District Court on Friday, Feb. 12 for one count of theft by deception of over $1,500, a Class III felony.

District Court Judge John P. Murphy found the defendant guilty and has ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

The defendant is a former employee of the New Life Fellowship Church in Grant. The theft took place during the time she was employed by the church between October 2007 and May 2008.

Four other counts filed in the original complaint were dropped. Prosecuting the case is Greg M. Ariza, acting deputy Perkins County attorney for the state of Nebraska. 

District Court sentencing has been set for March 12 at 10 a.m.
