|Regent Bob Phares files for re-election|
Bob Phares of North Platte, current chairman of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, has announced that he has filed for re-election to represent District 7.
In announcing the filing Phares said; “It has been a privilege to represent this part of Nebraska on the Board of Regents. We have a great university and exciting things are happening on all of our campuses but we are facing significant challenges to keep it that way.
“We must deliver quality education at affordable rates, preserve our land grant mission to agriculture and ag related businesses. “We want to focus on research and extension that can help drive our economic engine in this state and do all of this in challenging economic times. I believe my past four years experience can be valuable as we move forward.”
Phares was first appointed to the board in August of 2006 by Governor Dave Heineman and subsequently elected that November for the unexpired term in District 7.
Gov. Heineman commented on Phares’ re-election filing saying; “Bob Phares is an outstanding member of the Board of Regents and I strongly support his re-election. When reelected, Bob Phares will continue to contribute his commitment to public service and strong sense of integrity to the Board of Regents. I applaud his leadership and dedication, which are important to the Board and citizens of Nebraska.”
