Wallace High School will be taking eight students in 12 events to the state speech contest held in Kearney on Friday, March 19.  However, the team will be leaving on Wednesday because they were honored to be asked by the NSAA to be runners for Class A, B, and C1 on Thursday.  

The team won their district on Wednesday, March 10 with the highest total of points in Class D2 for a winning team–149 Points.  Mullen came in second with 98 points.

The following students are Wallace’s state speech qualifiers:

John Paul Lempke–1st in Humorous Prose and 3rd in Informative.

Lane Swedberg–1st in Duet Acting and 2nd in Humorous Prose.

Josi Hasenauer–1st in Duet Acting and 3rd in Serious Prose.

Ryan Sowle–1st in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Tarassa Swedberg–1st in Poetry and 2nd in Serious Prose.

Gini Phillips–1st in Persuasive

Travis Woodcox–3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Emily Hasenauer–2nd in Informative and 3rd in Entertainment.
