| PCHS speakers capture district title |

Students from Chase County, Dundy County-Stratton, Garden County, Hemingford, Maxwell, North Platte St. Pat’s, Perkins County, Southwest, and Sutherland participated for a trip to the state tournament. After a preliminary round of competition, the six highest qualifiers entered a final round of competition which advanced the top three speakers to the state meet to be held in Kearney on Friday, March 19. Seventeen events from PCHS made it into finals, with 10 events qualifying for state. Informative–Kristin Beck 2nd, Elisa Carlson 4th Persuasive–Tori Osler 3rd, Michi Prante 7th Entertainment–Elliot Carlson 5th, Cole Whalen 6th Extemporaneous–Amara Meyer 1st, Tori Osler 2nd Poetry–Calla Mailand 1st, Kalyn Hanson 3rd Humorous Prose–Ashley Kemling 4th, Lacey Jensen 6th Serious Prose–Calla Mailand 1st, Ashley Kemling 3rd Duet Acting–Erik Hagan and MacKenzie Hite 1st, Lacey Jensen and Rachel Patrick 5th Oral Interpretation of Drama–Erik Hagan, Jeremy Hagan, Kye Kurkowski, Josh Sexson and Nick Turner 1st; Elisa Carlson, MacKenzie Hite, Amara Meyer, Brooke Poppe, and Michael York 4th.
