On Tuesday, March 16, Perkins County High School hosted the annual S.P.V.A. Conference Quiz Bowl Tournament. Participating schools included:

Sutherland, Maxwell, Hershey, Chase County, Perkins County and North Platte St. Patrick’s.  

Perkins County’s team members include: Calla Mailand, Darrell Patten, Max Jones, Amara Meyer, Danielle Spitz-McCannon, Trevor Lee, Tori Osler, Elisa Carlson, Erik Hagan and Josh Sexson.  The team is coached by Deanne Bishop.  

Teams played each other in round-robin fashion. Placings were determined based on a team’s record. In the event of a tie, the higher place went to the team who won in their particular head-to-head match-up.  

Final results from the meet were: 

1st Place - NPSP: 4-1  (defeated Chase County, Sutherland, Maxwell and Perkins County)

2nd Place - Chase Co.:  4-1  (defeated Sutherland, Maxwell, Perkins County and Hershey)

3rd Place - Hershey:  3-2   (defeated Sutherland, Perkins County and NPSP)

4th Place - Perkins Co:  2-3   (defeated Maxwell and Sutherland)

5th Place - Sutherland:  1-4   (defeated Maxwell)

6th Place - Maxwell:  1-4   (defeated Hershey)

Perkins County’s next meet will be a dual held on Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m. MT vs. Chase County.  The competition will be in Perkins County’s high school library.  

The public is welcome to attend this event at no admission charge.
