Perkins County girls again ran away with the gold, winning their third straight track meet, this time in Sutherland on Friday, April 16. They were able to score 130 points, 36 points above second place finisher North Platte St. Pat’s who scored 94.

Senior sprinter Jenni Sis won the title of most valuable player, placing first in three events and tying two school records.

Ashley Kemling set a new school record with 2:32.90 in the 800 meter run.

Coming in third place was Hershey with 87; Chase County was fourth with 81; Sutherland fifth, 46; Paxton sixth, 37; Brady and Wauneta-Palisade tied for seventh with 34 each; Maxwell ninth, 33; Wallace 10th, 26; Arnold 11th, 10; Hyannis 12th, 5; and Arthur County 13th with 0 points.

Perkins County girls and boys combined scored 193, also finishing first.

The boys team finished in the fifth place spot with 63 points.

Sutherland swept the boys’ competition, finishing first with 127 points. North Platte St. Pat’s was second with 93; Hershey third with 89; Brady fourth with 76 points.

Sixth place went to Chase County, 44 points; seventh Paxton, 41; Maxwell eighth, 32; Wallace ninth, 22; Hyannis 10th, 16; Arthur County 11th, 9; Wauneta-Palisade 12th, 7; and Arnold 13th, 1.
