Youth raise funds for Rotary International ShelterBoxes PDF Print E-mail

Three Perkins County High School seniors representing the United Youth Fellowship of the Grant United Methodist Church attended the Grant Rotary meeting last Wednesday to present a $1,000 check to purchase a ShelterBox for Haiti. Accepting the check is Rotary President CJ Rezac. Each ShelterBox includes a tent, water purification and cooking supplies and essentials for 10 people. Area clubs have joined in the effort to provide shelter for victims of the 7.0 earthquake that occurred on Jan. 12. An estimated three million people were affected by the quake. Members of the youth group and their sponsor held several fundraisers to collect the money for sponsoring a ShelterBox.
