|Students create Egyptian pieces during artists’ visit|
Returning to Perkins County last week was artist, Julia Noyes from Lincoln. Julia, owner of Noyes Art Gallery, spent a week at Perkins County Elementary and Middle School, assisted by artist, Kevin Baker, also of Lincoln.
Students were introduced to the Egyptian culture and its art. Julia spent the week guiding fifth grade students as they created their own paintings on “pacornus” which was papyrus made from corn leaves.
Susan Hanson, art instructor, had gathered the corn leaves right after frost in the fall. She and teachers assistant, Brooke
Poppe, spent a great deal of time gluing and pressing each piece prior to the visit of the artists.
