|City receiving feedback on nuisance ordinance enforcement|
By Jan Rahn
Despite some negative feedback and angry residents, the nuisance ordinance for the City of Grant is moving forward, and city hall has also received some positive comments about its impact.
Residents are beginning to clean up their properties, and those who do not will be dealt with through enforcement procedures set forth in the ordinance which was adopted a year ago.
The $12,000 budgeted for the nuisance project includes the cost of cleanup by the city, legal fees, towing, and the agreement with West Central Nebraska Development District (WCNDD) which is the entity contracted to help enforce the ordinance.
A nuisance is defined in the ordinance as something that injures or endangers the comfort or health of others, offends decency, is offensive to the senses, obstructs passageways, depreciates the value of the property of others, and more.
Residents who would like to view the entire ordinance may visit city hall to view the definitions and enforcement procedures.
