Meyer serves in primary election May 11 PDF Print E-mail

Amara Meyer, a 2010 graduate of Perkins County High School, was one of 145 youths statewide honored by Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale and the Nebraska Bankers Association for serving as election workers during the May 11 primary election.

The youths participated in the Youth Election Service (YES), which is designed to increase interest and involvement in the election system among youths ages 14-18. Each participant will receive a recognition certificate from Gale.

YES participants served in 27 counties and worked over 756 hours.

“We applaud these youth workers for their valuable community service,” Gale said. “They performed a great service for our democracy.”

YES operates for the statewide primary and general elections every two years.
