One of the early events on  Saturday, July 3, during Imperial’s 125th celebration is a 5K race, mile run/walk and a kids’ half-mile race.

The route has been established in the city limits of Imperial, and a nice group of prizes is being gathered for those who compete.

Mark and Renae Bottom of Imperial are working with the city’s 125th committee to put on the event, which starts at 6:30 a.m. with check-in and registration at the quasquicentennial tent, which will be set up between 7th and 8th Sts. on Broadway..

The race coordinators have enlisted the help of a number of volunteers, including High School Cross County/Track Coach Carl Zuege. He is recruiting some of his runners to assist as course marshals.

The kids’ half-mile run will start the morning events at 7:15 a.m.
