With good attendance, fantastic talent, and great contributions, the second annual event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society was successfully held on June 12.
“An Evening of Hope” is the theme used in the fundraising effort which was hosted by the area’s Thunder On The Highline team—a segment of the annual Relay For Life set for July 16 in Ogallala.
According to co-organizer Deb Hansen, $4,700 was raised during the event attended by approximately 150 at the E Free Church in Grant.
Members of Thunder On the Highline team donated hors d’ oeuvres and helped serve following performances by a dozen talented singers and musicians.
Special guests during the evening were two-time cancer survivor Blake Pelster and his family.
“He is an example of the reason we fight this battle,” said Hansen, who was assisted by other organizers, Rhonda Kroeker, Toni Wyatt and Jeanie Daiss.
