|Celebrating the Fourth in Style|
The communities of Perkins County along with friends and family both near and far came together Sunday, July 4th to celebrate the nation’s birthday. Katie Miyamoto found herself a comfortable spot to eat a hotdog and watch the crowd at lunchtime. The big bash began with an early morning Firecracker Fun Run/Walk followed by breakfast with the Perkins County Schools Foundation as host. During the day, events included community church service, a bouncing playground for children, a dog wash, car wash, car show, horseshoe tournament, dodgeball, duck pond, and various games for both adults and children. The pool was open to offer free swimming to youth throughout the afternoon. Snacks and drinks were available all day and an evening barbecue hosted by the Youth Development Club took place prior to the annual fireworks display at the fairgrounds. Donations toward the show are still being accepted at area banks. (Photo by Jan Rahn)
