|Two-cent postal increase proposed|
By Jan Rahn
By the first part of October, Americans will know whether another two cents will be tacked on to each letter, bill or card they put into the mailbox.
In an effort to raise $2.3 billion during the first nine months of 2011, the U.S. Postal Service Governors have recommended increasing the price of a first-class stamp 2 cents to 46 cents. The price of a postcard would increase 2 cents to 30 cents.
A new image for Forever Stamps has also been authorized.
The Postal Regulatory Commission must approve the recommended price changes which would go into effect Jan. 2. If approved, this would be the first stamp price increase in nearly two years.
