|Third annual leafy spurge tour and conference to be held in McCook|
McCook, Neb. will be the site for the 23rd annual leafy spurge tour and conference on Aug.4 - 5.
Wednesday, Aug. 4 will kick off with registration at 12:30 (CDT) at the Chief Motel in McCook. At 1 p.m. the tour will depart to visit several sites of work completed on the Republican River including areas of mechanical tree removal taking place on site.
A steak fry will be held following the tour at the fairgrounds in McCook.
Thursday, Aug. 5 will begin with registration at 8 a.m. at the Chief Motel followed by the Presentation of Colors.
President of the Nebraska Leafy Spurge Task Force, Coby Welke, Holt County Weed Control, O’Neill, will give the welcome along with the president of the Southwest Weed Management Area.
Speakers for the conference include Tim Smith, project coordinator for the Republican River Project and Senator Mark Christensen speaking on Republican River water issues.
There will also be a presentation on historical events on the Republican River Basin. Awards and special recognitions will follow along with closing comments from Rod Stolcpart, Rock County Weed Control, Bassett.
