|PCHSF golf tournament will help provide new hospital beds|
Sunday, Aug. 15 is the date set for the 14th annual Perkins County Health Services Foundation Golf Tournament. It will be held at the Grant Golf Course at 1 p.m.
This year, the proceeds of the tourney will go to help purchase five new hospital beds at PCHS. The new beds will replace five of the current ones, which were from a regional hospital. They are quite old and in need of replacement.
The fund raiser for the beds was initiated in June. The cost of the beds is $22,600, with the Foundation goal of raising the full amount. Currently, over $13,000 has been raised.
Entries for the event are being taken now and will be limited to the first 36 paid teams, according to Foundation Administrator Ron Patrick. Contestants are requested to enter before August 9. As in the past, it will be a two-person scramble. A team may consist of two men, two women, or a man and woman.
As an added attraction, anyone making a hole-in-one on #17 hole will be awarded $10,000 in cash. Smaller prizes (Nike Driver or Irons, $500 Visa Gift Card, Bose Wave Music System) will be awarded for any hole-in-one on holes #2, 8, and 11.
The event will be an 18-hole competition with three or four flights. Cash flight and hole prizes will be awarded. Last year’s tournament netted over $2,800 for the purchase of a new hospital ultrasound machine.
At the conclusion of the event, free pizza and ice cream will be served to the participants. Patrick encourages anyone interested in the tournament to contact him soon at the PCHS Foundation office 308-352-7285.
