|SCIP to sponsor Walk-A-Mile fundraiser|
The Sandhills Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) is hosting the fourth annual Walk-A-Mile in Their Shoes, which combines big hearts with brave feet and brings the community together for a great cause.
The event premise is simple—men and women are nominated to walk in the Ogallala Rendezvous parade, with the men wearing women’s shoes and the women wearing men’s shoes, along with any other attire of their choice.
The community shows support for the nominated walkers and the cause by pledging money to see the individuals march against domestic violence.
For 25 years, SCIP has been providing direct services to families that have been victimized by domestic violence. Funds raised by the Walk-A-Mile will support programs that forever affect the lives of families in the community.
How to Get Involved
Sign up for the Walk-A-Mile or nominate someone to walk by contacting SCIP at (308) 284-2477. Sign up as an individual or recruit a team.
Raise funds by asking colleagues, friends and family to support this cause by donating money to watch the parade.
A good goal is $100 per walker. A grand prize will be given to the walker who raises the most money. Those not able to attend the parade may donate to the walker of their choice or delegate a friend to walk for them.
Walk the walk: join other brave “soles” by marching Sept. 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the Ogallala Rendezvous parade, which will be followed by an appreciation barbecue and award ceremony to celebrate all those who support the Walk-A-Mile.
