|Wallace Wildcats off to good start|
By Travis McConnell
An increased emphasis on defense in the preseason seems to have taken hold this year for the Wallace Wildcats, as they used a good defensive effort to upend the Potter-Dix Coyotes 66-13.
Last year these two teams played the highest scoring game in eight man history as Potter-Dix outlasted the Wildcats 90-68.
This year the Wildcats created turnovers, tackled better and scored as many touchdowns on defense as the Coyotes did on offense.
Running backs Sean May and Shawn Christensen were also spectacular on offense as the two combined for 64 of Wallace’s 66 points.
Following a fumble recovery in its own end zone, by Taylor Doell, the Wildcats wasted little time getting on the scoreboard to start the new season. The Wildcats used six running plays to take the ball to the Coyote three-yard line.
On first and goal from the three May took a hand off over the left side and went untouched into the end zone to put the Wildcats up 6-0 with 5:06 to play in the first quarter.
