Hoping for steady improvement throughout the season, Coach Troy Kemling is setting a goal of sending some golfers to state.
Four players make up the 2010 Plainsmen Golf Team—two with two years of varsity experience and two who have golfed on a limited basis.
Seniors Emily Kiolbasa and Steph Reichert will be called upon to provide leadership and guidance to the other first year players,” said Kemling.
He said it will be a transition period during the first few meets while the new girls, freshmen Carra Johson and Shania Stickley, get accustomed to playing 18 holes.
Looking ahead at districts, which will be played at Chimney Rock Golf Course at Bayard, Kemling said the western teams will have an advantage having been able to play the course multiple times during the season.
“Defending district champ Chadron will be the team to beat with Valentine and Bridgeport in the hunt,” said Kemling.
