Goodland, Kan. was the site for the season’s first cross-country meet with Perkins County runners competing against eight schools.

Medaling in third place her first time on the course this season was Perkins County’s Ashley Kemling with a time of 17:21.

The PCS junior has her eye on a third trip to state this fall. She set a career personal record in a tough field of Class D runners last year with a time of 16:28.6.

“The runners did an excellent job at Goodland,” said Coach Paula Wurst.

Each of the veteran six runners from last year’s meet improved their times.

“This says positive things about their conditioning up to this point.”

Wurst was pleased with everyone’s efforts, commenting that the newcomers all finished and they raced well.
