|Wallace Wildcats fall to Sandhills/Thedford Knights|
By Travis McConnell
The Wallace Wildcats took a step up in class on Friday afternoon when they hosted the class D1 Sandhills/Thedford Knights. It turned out to be too big of a step, as the Knights rode the legs of Cale Anderson to a 62-12 win.
The game kicked off at 2 p.m. in the afternoon to accommodate the officials and by 2:02 the Knights led 6-0. Sean May kicked the ball nine yards deep into the endzone on the opening kickoff forcing the Knights to start at their own 15-yard line.
It didn’t take Anderson long to get started though, as he took a handoff over the left side and raced 65 yards untouched for the Knight’s first touchdown of the game with only 12 seconds gone off the clock.
The Wildcats only managed one first down in the first quarter, but stayed in the game thanks to good defense. The Wildcats stopped the next Knight drive when Shawn Christensen tipped a Nate McFadden pass that was intercepted by Taylor Doell. The Wildcats took over at their own 36-yard line, but were forced to punt three plays later.
