Lady Cats post decisive win over South Platte in home contest PDF Print E-mail

The Wallace Wildcats hosted South Platte on Thursday, Oct 7. The Lady Cats were ready to play and won, decisively, in straight sets 25-9, 25-9, and 25-5.

When asked about the game, Coach Rohde said, “The girls played really well tonight. We passed the ball and that made the rest of our game go well.“  He added, “Some of our younger girls got to show what they could do and did a nice job.”

Leading the team offensively against South Platte was senior Laura O’Brien with 19 points (four aces), followed by senior Katelynn Hild with 12 points (three aces), and senior Shanice “Bob” Harris with 10 points (three aces). Seniors MaKayla Gardner (three aces) and Whitney Smith (two aces) each had four points, and senior Paige Kerchal and freshman Sara Hubbard each had two points (one ace). 

Leading the team with set assists was Hild with 14, followed by O’Brien with 12, junior Emily Hasenauer with three, and Gardner with one.

Defensively, Smith had 14 kills and two blocks, followed by Harris with eight kills. Gardner had six kills and two blocks, and junior Brooke Hochstetler had five kills.

Wallace vs Hayes Center

On Friday, Oct. 8, the Lady Cats traveled to Hayes Center to face the Cardinals. The Wildcats wrecked homecoming for Hayes Center by defeating the Cardinals in straight sets 25-12, 25-14, and 25-5.

“We played awesome,” Rohde said. “We passed well, we set well, we hit well, and we served well. ”   

Leading the team offensively against the Hayes Center Cardinals was Harris with 19 points (four aces), followed by Gardner with 13 points (seven aces). O’Brien had nine points, Hild had six points, Smith had five points, and Kerchal had three points. 

Leading the team with set assists were O’Brien and Hild each with 11, followed by Hasenauer with two, and Harris with one.

Defensively, Smith led the team with 11 kills and one block, followed by Gardner with seven kills and three blocks. Harris had five kills, and Hochstetler had three kills and one block.

The Lady Cats played in the Potter-Dix triangular on Monday, Oct. 11. Game one is Wallace verses Potter-Dix, game two is Wallace versus Garden County, and game three is Potter-Dix versus Garden County. 

Next Action

The Ladies will host Brady on Friday, Oct. 15 with C team starting at 4 p.m.
