Excellent serving and total team effort were the theme of the night as the Lady Plainsmen handily defeated the Chase County Lady Longhorns in all three sets last Thursday night in Imperial.

Coach Penny Hite said the girls really worked hard at refocusing themselves and took control of the game.

“It wasn’t about winning tonight. It was about coming together and playing good fundamental ball,” said Hite.

She commended the girls on their serves and serve receive in their 25-17, 25-23, 25-15 win against the Lady Longhorns.

“We are still working on reading the ball and pursuing the ball, but they brought the fun back in the game,” said Hite.

Matisyn Humphrey, Tori Osler and Shania Metcalf took their turns slamming kills their way with 15, 12 and 12 respectively. Forty-two set assists by Kristin Beck kept the ball in play so the girls at the net could do their job. Defensively, Metcalf led with nine blocks, two of them ace blocks.
