In a 259 to 168 vote, Perkins County unofficially elected Dave Hoffert to serve as the next District 2 Commissioner. There are 736 registered voters in District 2.
Hoffert defeated incumbent Leon Pankonin to take a seat on the board for the next four years.
Citing a background in business and experience in developing management and leadership skills, Hoffert said he will have a common sense approach toward all county financial business.
Improving roads is his number one goal for the four-year term to which he was elected.
Wind energy and zoning are two other issues he plans to work on.
“To get these issues right, it’s going to take work,” said Hoffert. “We can have all the skills in the world but without work we will go nowhere.”
Hoffert said he will be accessible to residents of the county and invites voters to visit with him any time.
