Canine CPR and First Aid class scheduled in North Platte PDF Print E-mail

PAWS-itive Partners Humane Society and ˜R™ Dogs Agility Center in North Platte are sponsoring a class in dog cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and first aid Saturday, Nov. 6, at the agility center at 1320 E. Eighth Street in North Platte.

There will be two classes, one at 8:30 a.m. and the second one at 1 p.m. The instructor will be Eric Roth, a paramedic and owner of Colorado CPR and AED in the Denver area.

The class teaches participants what to do in the event of a pet emergency.

Emphasis is placed on First Aid and CPR, prevention of illness and injury, the importance of early veterinary care and the appropriate restraining of an injured animal.

Course content includes vital signs, CPR, Heimlich, bandaging, shock, poisons, medical conditions and triage (what constitutes an emergency situation).

Please do NOT bring a dog. The fee is $30 per person, with scholarships available for students and seniors age 65 and older.

Red Cross certification is available for an additional $8.
