Women’s Resource Center volunteer is recognized PDF Print E-mail

Luanne Geisert was recently presented the Ogallala Women’s Resource Center’s William Hill Volunteer Service Award.

This award recognizes a volunteer of the Ogallala Women’s Resource Center who has set an exemplary example of service to the center.

Luanne began her commitment to the Center in 2006. She serves as a dedicated liaison between the center and her church. She keeps the Ogallala Women’s Resource Center in the minds of her fellow parishioners by arranging for representatives of the center to provide updates at her church and helps orchestrate church baby showers for the benefit of center’s clients.

In January the center will begin its ninth year of service to women and couples residing in an approximate 60-mile radius of Ogallala including Keith, Arthur, Perkins, Chase, Garden and Deuel counties.

Services include peer mentoring, pregnancy tests; maternity clothes; baby clothes and supplies for babies up to 24 months of age; educational information concerning development of a baby in the womb and after birth, positive parenting techniques; post-abortion and post-miscarriage support; information on adoption; and a Learn-to-Earn Program.

The center is funded entirely through donations provided by individuals, businesses, churches and organizations.

Funding from the government is not sought nor accepted. All services are free and confidential.
