|Stop at the fire hall during Christmas open house|
Refreshments, giveaways, tours, fire extinguisher booth.
By Jan Rahn
Chamber’s Christmas open house event will be enhanced with the open bays of the Grant Fire Hall to expose all of the symbolic holiday “red” to those enjoying the downtown event Thursday, Nov. 18.
The public is warmly invited to stop in at the fire department for tours, drawing, giveaways and free fire extinguisher checks.
Personnel will be available to expose and explain what is kept inside “the fire barn.”
Besides the obvious trucks and other vehicles used to fight fire, the public can view the tools and equipment kept on board, such as a thermal imager, breathing apparatus, and new Jaws of Life.
Firefighters are especially proud of the new pumper truck that went into service this summer.
Climb aboard the ambulance and check out the state-of-the art equipment used for rescue calls.
Those who stop in during the open house event will be treated to some refreshments and given the opportunity to register for giveaways.
Four smoke/heat detectors and one fire extinguisher will be given away at the end of the evening.
Free Extinguisher Checks
Bring in your fire extinguisher for a free check.
A booth will be set up where Tri-State, a fire extinguisher business in Imperial, will look at home extinguishers to determine whether they work properly, need refilling or repaired.
