Artbeat...Meadowlark Gallery will open Thursday, Nov. 18 PDF Print E-mail

The Perkins County Area Arts Council and Meadowlark Gallery continue to gain exposure with more and more visitors each month, and were recently featured in the November/December issue of Nebraska Life magazine.

The gallery will be wrapping up this year’s displays, concluding with the quilt and chair display during the month of November.

The arts council will then concentrate efforts on a dinner theater planned for March, which generates funds for the arts council’s operation and projects.

Plan to visit the gallery the night of the downtown open houses, Thursday, Nov. 18 and see the quilts crafted by Quilted Leaf Quilt Guild. Members include Pennie Reese, JoAnn Schultz, Susan Hanson, Ann Rau, Darlene Kuskie, Ellen Gillett, Hazel Gimeson, Shana Kraus, Judy Hilferty, Sally Shiers and Vi Tjaden.

Also on display are painted chairs by various community members that are up for silent auction. Proceeds from the auction help provide funds used for advertising, open houses and gallery operation.

Those who have contributed a chair include Judy Hilferty, Renee Mercier, Bobi Brown, Jenny Watkins, Molly Hutchinson, Mindy Schulz, Barb Moul, Lisa Jones, Amber Burnett, Brian Pankonin, Virginia Deaver, Kathy Peterson, Karen Thurin, Steven Roushar, Jack Frederick, Poppe’s Posies, Monica Poppe, Chelsea McGreer, Will Riley, DeeAnn Tatum.

Anyone who has painted a tile for the community tile project might want to see the progress made on the murals to be placed in the Hastings Memorial Library building in the near future.

Come visit the gallery during the open houses or Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8 p.m.

The gallery is operated by the Perkins County Area Arts Council. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, 7 p.m. at the gallery. The public is invited to join them.
