The Wallace Lady Cats basketball team enters the 2010 season with excitement under the leadership of third year Head Coach Jennifer Koop and Assistant Coaches Gregory Skeen and Cherie Sowle.

“We return a great core of players to build around, and we will plan to use our speed and height,” Koop said. “I’m excited to see what we can do as a team.”

There are 19 girls out for the Lady Cats team this season, including six returning letter winners. The Wildcats hope to improve on their 13-8 record from the 2009-2010 season.

The lady cats returning letter winners are Shanice Harris (5-foot-10 senior), Katelynn Hild (5-foot-3 senior), Laura O’Brien (5-foot-5 senior), Whitney Smith (5-foot-7 senior), Emily Hasenauer (5-foot-5 junior) and Brooke Hochstetler (5-foot-11 junior).

The Lady Cats will also benefit from the transfer of MaKayla Gardener (6-foot-2 senior) from Maywood.

These ladies provided significant contributions to the 2009-2010 season and the coaches expect the five seniors to step into a leadership position. In fact, Coach Koop listed senior leadership as one of this teams greatest strengths.

The Lady Cats’ first game will be on Friday, Dec. 3 against the Maywood Tigers in Maywood.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, they will host the Broncos of Wauneta-Palisade.

The Lady Cats look forward to an exciting year with lots of talent and experience.
