Former Grant resident and former Grant City Council member Joyce Rahn pled guilty in Lincoln County Court on Jan. 23 to reduced charges of theft by deception.
Rahn appeared before Judge Kent Florom who ordered her to pay restitution on three counts of misdemeanor theft by deception. Judge Florom also placed Rahn on six months probation.
Rahn, 52,  was originally charged with two counts of theft by deception, both Class III felonies. Count I was reduced to a misdemeanor; Count II was dismissed.
Restitution ordered by Judge Florom must be paid to three victims:  Ismael Estrada, $6,424.85; Juan Jose Rios Casillas, $2,000; and Farmers State Bank of Wallace, $800.
Rahn is a former employee of the Wallace bank. She was arrested in late October in Lincoln County following investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol for embezzling at least $8,400 from the bank during the time she was an officer of the bank.
She had resigned from the Wallace bank to accept employment as an officer of the Bank of Stapleton. She is no longer employed by the Stapleton bank.
Rahn was represented by Attorney Randy Fair of Ogallala.
