A grant for nearly $10,000 will enable the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office to purchase three new in-car cameras.
Fred Zwonechek, administrator for the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, made the announcement last week.
“This highway safety grant funding in the amount of $9,956.25 will aid the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office in purchasing three camera systems,” Zwonechek said.
In a press release, Zwonechek said Nebraska has once again qualified for highway safety alcohol incentive funds. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety has utilized this funding to aid local area law enforcement in obtaining in-car cameras and alcohol testing equipment used to assist in the apprehension and conviction of drinking drivers.
“This funding and the ongoing persistence of law enforcement personnel continues to impact alcohol-related crashes and the resulting injuries and fatalities,” said Zwonechek.
