Live cameras show current condition of state’s roads

With the winter weather we’ve had so far, it’s a good idea for Nebraskans to have some travel information at their fingertips for the next few weeks before spring arrives.
With March typically being the snowiest month of the year, the following information will come in handy.
Travelers can access the Nebraska State Patrol’s website for a glance at road conditions and travel updates.
Visit www.nsp.state.ne.us and click on the 511 Traveler Information tab—then choose a map that will provide road information.
The 2010 map (or current version) shows road in colored lines with a legend that describes road conditions.
The 2011 new version map gives viewers a visual of actual road conditions from cameras placed along routes.
Click “layers” to the “on” position to see where cameras have been installed along highways in the state and then click on the camera for a view of the roadway.
A viewer will be able to tell by the live camera shots what condition the road is in.
There are several other features to the maps such as road construction, road closure, hazards, restrictions, etc.
