Perkins County Court update PDF Print E-mail

Cases filed in Perkins County came before Judge Edward D. Steenberg on Wednesday, March 2. Representing the state of Nebraska was Perkins County Deputy Attorney Joel Phillips.
• J. Dutch Hecht, 31, was arraigned on three complaints:  alleged Third Degree Domestic Assault, a Class I Misdemeanor; alleged Carrying Concealed Weapon, a Class IV Felony; and alleged Disturbing the Peace, a Class III Misdemeanor.
A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, March 16.
Representing the defendant is attorney Joel Burke of Imperial.
• The preliminary hearing of Clarence W. Cheek II, 47, was rescheduled for Wednesday, April 20, so that recently appointed attorney Joel Burke is given ample time to gather evidence.    
Cheek, who did not appear, and was instead represented by attorney Burke, is charged with four Class ID Felonies for alleged Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Felon, and one Class III Felony for alleged Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Felon.
• William A. Rogers, 19, did not appear and was instead represented by attorney Gary Krajewski of Ogallala, who moved for continuance.
Judge Steenberg set a preliminary hearing for the defendant on Wednesday, April 6.
The complaint filed against the defendant is for alleged Theft by Unlawful Taking, a Class III Felony; alleged Theft by Unlawful Taking, a Class I Misdemeanor; and alleged Theft by Unlawful Taking, a Class IV Felony.
